What is The Edit: Designer Hire?

The Edit: Designer Hire is a designer handbag rental service based in Armagh, Northern Ireland. We offer a curated collection of luxury handbags that can be rented for weddings, parties, christenings and special events across the UK and Ireland.


Where are you based?

The Edit: Designer Hire is based in Armagh, Northern Ireland and operates primarily online plus we offer local pickup also. We deliver designer handbag rentals to customers across the UK and Ireland.


Do you offer local pickup?

Yes, local pickup is available, we are based in Armagh, Northern Ireland.

If you would prefer to collect your rental in person, please contact us before placing your order to arrange a suitable collection time.

Local pickup is ideal for customers based nearby who would like to collect their bag ahead of their event.

Please note that pickup times must be arranged in advance.

What condition are the bags in?

All bags at The Edit: Designer Hire are carefully inspected, cleaned and packaged before each rental to ensure they arrive in excellent condition.


Are your handbags authentic?

Yes. Every handbag available to rent through The Edit: Designer Hire is 100% authentic. Each piece is carefully sourced and inspected to ensure quality and authenticity.


How does renting a handbag work?

Renting with The Edit: Designer Hire is simple.

  1. Choose your designer handbag

  2. Select your rental period

  3. Pay a fully refundable deposit + the cost of your bag rental

  4. Receive your bag before your event

  5. Return it using the provided packaging and prepaid postage label

Is a security deposit required? 

Yes, a refundable security deposit of £100 is required for all rentals. This is taken at the time of booking and will be fully refunded once the bag has been returned in its original condition.

The deposit covers the unlikely event of significant damage, loss or theft during your rental period. In the event of a claim against the deposit, you will be notified with full details.


What rental periods do you offer?

We offer three rental options:

4 Day Weekend Rental (Thursday – Monday)
Perfect for weddings and weekend events.

7 Day Rental
Ideal for holidays, trips or multiple occasions.

14 Day Rental
Enjoy a designer handbag for longer.


How does delivery and returns work?

Your bag will be carefully packaged and delivered before your rental period begins. Once your rental ends, simply return the bag using the provided return packaging and instructions.

What happens if I return my rental late?

Late returns may result in additional fees, as the bag may be reserved for another customer.

Your return date will be clearly stated at checkout and in your order confirmation.


How do late fees work?

All rentals must be returned by the agreed return date. If a rental is returned late, late fees may apply and will be deducted from your  £100 security deposit as the bag may already be reserved for another customer.

Late fees will be invoiced directly to you.

  • 1 day late: £20 late fee

  • 2 days late: An additional £40 late fee 

  • 3 days late: An additional £60

If a rental is returned more than 4 days late, you may be charged the full retail value of the handbag.

If you are experiencing genuine difficulties returning your rental on time, please contact us as soon as possible at cara@theeditdesignerhire.com so we can assist.

Please note that delivery and return dates are monitored through our courier provider. If a delay occurs due to the courier, your rental period will be extended and no late fees will apply.

However, if the courier is not responsible for the delay, the standard late fees will apply.


What is considered normal wear and tear?

We understand that minor signs of use can happen during a rental. Light wear and tear such as small marks from normal use will not usually result in charges.

However, significant damage such as stains, structural damage or loss of the bag may incur additional charges.

What happens if my rental is damaged, lost or stolen?

Customers are responsible for the handbag while it is in their care. If a bag is lost, stolen or significantly damaged, the customer may be charged the repair or replacement cost.

How should I care for my rental?

To keep the bag in excellent condition, we recommend:

  • Avoid contact with liquids, oils and makeup (use the makeup bag provided - which you can also keep!)

  • Do not overfill the bag

  • Store the bag safely when not in use

  • Handle with care during your rental period

  • Please do not clean your bag with any sprays, we handle all cleaning in-house with specialised cleaning products.


How do I return my rental?

Your rental must be returned by the agreed return date using the provided return packaging and instructions.

Return details will be included with your order.


What happens if I return my rental late?

Can I cancel my order?

Orders may be cancelled within 48 hours of booking, provided the rental period has not already begun.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or change your booking and we will do our very best to accommodate your request.
